for the Most Common Healthcare Concerns, by Well-Known Naturopathic Doctor and Author, Herb Joiner-Bey, N.D.

Naturopathic doctors attend 4-6 years of accredited graduate school in nutrition based medicine and natural, drug-free healing therapies (similar educational training to a medical doctor’s degree, but with a strong focus on nutrition and natural healing). 3. Reasons To Buy Organic Food
|
"Organically grown food is your best way of reducing exposure to toxins used in conventional agricultural practices. These toxins include not only pesticides, many of which have been federally classified as potential cancer-causing agents, but also heavy metals such as lead and mercury, and solvents like benzene and toluene. |
Minimizing exposure to these toxins is of major benefit to your health. Heavy metals damage nerve function, contributing to diseases such as multiple sclerosis, lower IQ, and also block hemoglobin production, causing anemia. Solvents damage white cells, lowering the immune system’s ability to resist infections."
Agricultural chemicals used in conventionally grown foods (which are used to kill bacteria, fungi, insects, weeds, rodents and other organisms) have also been shown to the harmful to mitochondria, the energy production factories of our cells.
Organically grown foods have been show to be significantly higher in vitamins, minerals and other nutrients which are essential for health: 27% more vitamin C, 29.3% more magnesium and 21.1% more iron. Deficiency of vitamin C, magnesium, iron and other vitamins and minerals (classified as essential nutrients because they are required by our bodies for health and normal functioning) can result in low energy, anxiety, fatigue, headaches, impaired wound healing, impaired immune function, increased frequency of colds and infections, elevated blood pressure, heart attacks - the #1 killer in the U.S., increased rates of cancer - the #2 killer in the U.S., and many other healthcare concerns.

4. Genetically Modified Foods
4.1 Support the California GMO Labeling Ballot Initiative!
-
California is poised to be the first state with mandatory GMO labeling laws through the 2012 California Ballot Initiative process.
-
Polls show support to get this initiative on the ballot & voted in. Over 80% of those polled supported mandatory labeling.
-
A win for the California Initiative would be a huge blow to biotech and a huge victory for food activists.
-
Monsanto and their minions have billions invested in GMOs and they are willing to spend millions to defeat this initiative.
-
California is the 8th largest economy in the world. Labeling laws in CA will effect packaging and ingredient decisions nation-wide.
-
The bill has been carefully written to ensure that it will not increase costs to consumers or producers.
4.2 GMO Health Risks
|
The Organic Foods Production Act states that organic food cannot be produced with genetic engineered foods, growth hormones, antibiotics, synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, sewer sludge fertilizers, irradiation and other artificial ingredients. |
-
GM plants, such as soybean, corn, cottonseed, and canola, have had foreign genes forced into their DNA. The inserted genes come from species, such as bacteria and viruses, which have never been in the human food supply.

4.4 What Foods Are Currently Genetically Modified?
“Providing a complete list of genetically modified food (GM food) in the U.S. is virtually impossible because no laws force disclosure, according to Disability News, a website devoted to health issues for those with disabilities.” (1, 2)

4.5 Millions Against Monsanto
 |
Monsanto and other GMO companies have now introduced about 40 GMO foods into the environment – and they foods are contaminating organic and non-GMO crops!
Monsanto has sued farmers for patent infringement for unintentionally using GMO seeds due to the inevitable drift of Monsanto’s GMO seeds onto their farms (inevitable drift onto conventional and organic farms)! Hear from one of the farmers sued by Monsanto in the below video...

Other countries have successfully banned (or significantly restricted) the growing and sales of GMO foods and products, including Germany, Ireland, Italy, France, Greece, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Luxembourg, U.K., Austria, Norway, Philippians, Japan, China, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Algeria and Egypt. (1, 2, 3)
