Top 5 Reasons We Love Orlando in 2012
We do not get much recognition for our growing city and its diverse inhabitants and amenities. Well, until recently that is. Orlando was just ranked in the top 10 places to visit in 2012. It was listed as such for the upcoming NBA allstar game which will bring a ton of people to the city; but it was also named for the exciting culture developing in and around Downtown Orlando and the Mills 50 area. Well Jeanette and I have compiled our own list of why we think Orlando is not only the place to be this year...but the place to buy and stay!
5. Outdoor living! - Florida has amazing weather...obviously. But just in the city limits of Orlando we have 104 lakes

and over 100 parks to enjoy. Not to mention the hundreds more in the surrounding cities and counties (think Winter Park, Maitland, and more!). Or if you feel like heading to the beach you have options on either coast in just over an hour. I am sitting outside in my own backyard as I write this article because it is 72 degrees and not a cloud in the sky!
4. Events and Things to Do every night of the week - the art scene in Orlando has been building over the last 10-15 years. Whether you are into music, film, theater, illustration, or fine art; there is an event somewhere in Orlando almost every night of the week. Check out the upcoming art show at
The Falcon Bar Saturday night.
3. Historic Homes and Architecture - Orlando although still a young city compared to many, still has some beautiful historic homes and early Florida architecture. The historic districts are the best places to start if you're looking for a house with some character; but all along the outskirts of Downtown there are adorable bungalows, midsize craftsman homes, and mansions of various styles popular in the early 20th century. Or if you're interested in the history behind the Downtown skyline and buildings in the Central Business District
check out the historic walking tour.

2. Food, Food, and More Food - The burgeoning food scene is so fun to watch. You can now enjoy quality food at just about any major intersection or Orlando event by looking for one of the local food trucks! My favorite up and coming event in 2012..in the ever growing Orlando food scene...is the Confection Fest. Thanks to Mark Baratelli of
TheDailyCity.com, we will hopefully enjoy an entire festival of sweets.
1. Affordable Homes! - Ok you know we had to mention real estate in this list. Orlando home affordability is through the roof at 250.44%! The average Interest rate just dropped to 3.99%.
