The Saturday Scoop

Debt. Unless you're living under a rock (like in the Geico commercial), we can't seem to escape talk about debt lately. The debt ceiling, the United States debt, the debt crisis overseas. However, the question you should be asking yourself about debt at the end of the day is simple.

How does the current debt situation affect me and my financial planning?

This Saturday's Scoop is a recent letter from Symmetry Partners addressing the current debt crisis happening overseas. You may recognize Symmetry Partners as we utilize them to manage our investment portfolios. The principals at Symmetry do a great job not only explaining the debt situation overseas, but also reminding us that "countries don't just go away...they restructure and press on."

The lesson here? The current debt crisis is just one of the many bumps in the road we'll encounter in our financial planning journey, but remember that this "crisis de jour" shall too pass. In the meantime, buckle your seat belt and hang in there. As Warren Buffett once said, "In the business world, the rear-view mirror is always clearer than the windshield."

As always, feel free to share the Saturday Scoop with anyone you feel would enjoy it and if I can help you or anyone you care about with any questions, just let me know!

Until next week...

Brian
