Inside this issue... Are you on Facebook?Hi <<First Name>>, "Are you on Facebook?" That’s a very common question these days. We ask friends at church, people we work with, and family members to "friend" us so we can see each other’s Facebook pages. From there, we can write on someone’s wall, tag them in a picture, take a quiz to discover our personality type, and even poke someone thousands of miles away.
Like most social media platforms, it’s a great way to keep in touch with friends you don’t see often. I found Ruth from college on the East Coast, my sister’s best friend Janis in Texas, and missionaries in North Africa.
More timely than annual Christmas letters and more entertaining than someone’s vacation slide show, it’s a tool that keeps us connected. It’s not quite the same as being face to face with your friends, but if you live miles apart, it’s the next best thing.
We’re hard-wired for relationships, even if they happen over the Internet. Whether you poke someone on Facebook, give them a tweet on Twitter, or send an old-fashioned email, invest in your friends and family. You’ll be glad you did.

Industry Interview Fireproof Inspires Filmmaker Bryan Forrest by Angela Walker Three years ago, Bryan Forrest was a guy with an idea for a film. Lots of people have ideas for films, and some even write the screenplays. Bryan took it a step further. After much prayer and counsel, and seeing a news special on Sherwood Pictures, Bryan asked his church (University City United Methodist in Charlotte, North Carolina) if they would consider making the movie a ministry of the church. They agreed, and a movie was born. Can you talk about your background, and what led up to you making The One Lamb?
Bryan: We’re about to release The One Lamb in 100 cities through an exclusive partnership with Carmike Cinemas. On March 17, every theater that it will be opening in is hosting a free screening for pastors, ministry leaders, Christian radio stations, etc. We want pastors to get an advanced look at it before they promote it to the churches.
This is a ministry tool, a way for people to go into their community and bring their friends they may feel are unbelievers to sit with them for two hours and watch an entertaining, dramatic and funny movie that shares the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s a really easy way for people who may not know how to share the message. It’s hard sometimes to bring up a conversation about Christ with friends, but how easy is it to just buy a $5 ticket to a movie?
It’s not lost on us how blessed we are to have that kind of access, when we think about how the film was essentially made for $50,000. The movie has nationwide distribution in over 100 cities in 34 states. We continue to thank God for the dominion He’s given us. Film Review "The Robe" A Decided Must-See by Greg Wright
The Robe is classic Hollywood storytelling at its finest. Roman Tribune Marcellus spars with Emperor-to-be Caligula and is dispatched to Palestine as punishment—only to arrive in Jerusalem on the very same afternoon as Jesus’ final appearance in the city. By the end of a very tedious week, Marcellus is handed the task of overseeing the execution of three criminals via crucifixion… and goes mad when he takes shelter under the prophet’s robe, which he has won in a game of dice.
Upon the Tribune’s return to Rome, and to his childhood love Diana, the ailing Tiberius sends Marcellus on a quest to track down the robe—carried and protected by Marcellus’ runaway slave Demetrius—and destroy the pernicious symbol of freedom. Marcellus’ quest introduces him to the teachings of Christ and the power of faith, and puts him on a martyrous collision course with the despotic Caligula, who succeeds Tiberius as Emperor. The masterful script originally developed by blacklisted writer Albert Maltz introduces memorable characters, and wisely makes the story as much about the chaste love of Marcellus and Diana as it is about the quest for the robe of Christ.
Which leads to another thing worth mentioning: the words in the script itself, modeled after the "optimistic and hopeful" book of the same name. The words of Demetrius and Diana contain some of the most bitter indictments of man’s humanity ever uttered on celluloid. "Justice and charity—men will never accept such a philosophy," Diana dismisses Marcellus when he tries to explain his conversion to Christianity. "The world just isn’t like that. It never has been, and it never will be."
The Hope of the Faith But Marcellus, even behind bars, demonstrates the value of faith when he declares that he is "really well for the first time" in his life. And Miriam, a crippled woman in Cana whom Christ chose not to heal, is able to assert that she is living proof that "misfortune needn’t deprive" us of happiness. Maltz’ script looks darkness square in the face and still manages to convey the Christian truth that the hope of the faith has not been in the historicity of the man Jesus Himself, but in what His words have wrought in the lives of His followers: peace, love, joy, contentment, hope, and, yes, sometimes healing—even in the midst of darkness and despair. And this from a crew of filmmakers who were mostly not even Christians themselves!
The Robe reminds us that persecution of any sort is ugly and sinister; that verbal intimidation and curtailment of rights are still a far cry from lions and crosses; and that Christianity changed the world not through a militant response to persecution, but by an adherence to the tenets of the faith in spite of persecution.

About ChristianCinema.com The Biggest Family Movie Store On The Planet Buyer Review Rating: Come What May - DVD by Jeremy Bowen
"What an amazing movie! This is the first film from Advent Film Group and I can only image how good the next one will be. It is a well crafted story about standing for the Unborn no matter what! Weaved in are also story lines about purity in courtship and a restoration of relationship in marriage. It really is a "must see" film. I was blown away by the quality of the movie considering it was made by a bunch of home educated kids. I have met some of the actors and the producer and I an tell you they are Godly and that shows through in this film. Buy it, watch it, share it. Way to go Advent Film Group! I look forward to what's next! " [ Read more... ] Christians In Cinema Blog An ongoing dialogue about faith and film.
