What but the minds of 3rd through 5th graders could create such amazing and wonderful stories?  Imaginations like these need to be celebrated.  In a big way.  Please join us for Barrel of Monkeys’ final school-year performance, “Celebration of Authors”. 

Each year we give our students’ work the royal treatment, and next week this treatment will be taken to a whole new level – Barrel of Monkeys will present “Celebration of Authors” on the Steppenwolf stage! 

Of all the stories written and adapted in the 2010-2011 school year (approximately 300 of them), two fantastic stories from each in-school residency, as well as our after school program, have been selected and will be presented to the public for the first time! 

Each student author is invited to attend “Celebration of Authors” along with their family, peers, teachers and principals.  This one special night brings together the educational and theater communities Barrel of Monkeys serves all year.  Admission is free to all who attend.  Reservations are strongly encouraged! 

When: Tuesday, June 7th at 7pm
Where: Steppenwolf Upstairs Theatre, 1650 N. Halsted St.
How: Call the Steppenwolf Theatre box office at 312-335-1650 for your free reservation!

Can’t make it, but want to show your support of our authors?  Donations are accepted every day the internet is open!  Join more than 100 individuals who have already supported BOM in its annual appeal.  We are 55% of our way to our goal – please help us get to 100%!
TWG Summer Shows!
Checklist for summer activities:

1. Go to the zoo.
2. Visit the Monkeys.

These are two very different “to do” items!  Don’t forget that the summer is a great time to visit Barrel of Monkeys every Monday night for our “That’s Weird, Grandma” performances at the Neo-Futurarium.  You will like it.

Don’t miss the amazing influx of new 2010-2011 stories as they are released following "Celebration of Authors"!  PLEASE NOTE: Due to Celebration of Authors next week, there will be NO “That’s Weird, Grandma” on Monday, June 6!  TWG will return on June 13 and run every Monday through the end of August! 

The summer is a fantastic time for the Monkeys to present stories to the public that have only been seen by the students.  As BOM performed 15 original shows for students of the Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Park District, and Lincolnwood Elementary (an Evanston Public School), that means there are at least 300 new stories that have been performed and are now eligible to be in “That’s Weird, Grandma” for YOUR viewing pleasure.  Oh, the possibilities.
