Holy Spirit of Jesus, as our students enter a new semester, we thank you for the learning that happened during the first semester. We pray that your wisdom would enlighten us our minds, encourage our actions, and guide our words. We ask for your blessing on BSM and all of its community during this second half of the school year. Watch over us and be our guide. Jesus, you studied sufficiently hard at school that you earned the title of Rabbi, you apprenticed under your Father and earned the title of Carpenter, you have truly walked in our shoes. Accept our efforts, at study and work, as an offering of thanksgiving for the gift that we have to be a part of the BSM community. Bless our students as they close another semester, bless our parents as we encourage them, bless us these cold winter days. Heavenly Father, we are awed by the idea of God coming to earth in the form of man to dwell among us. Thank you for desiring to be known so sincerely that you would take our form to demonstrate how deep is your love. As we look back on 2010 show us how you walked with us through the joys and trials of this year. As we anticipate 2011, help us Father to be open to your grace and grant us the courage to act in a way that brings you glory.Heavenly Father, we are awed by the idea of God coming to earth in the form of man to dwell among us. Parenting KAHNversations
The popular SENIOR PANEL is a "don't want to miss" panel presentation moderated by Dr. Steve Kahn. BSM senior students share their perspective on a variety of topics. Parents of students of all ages will want to come and hear what these teens have to say. Join us Tuesday, March 22, 11:30 - 1 p.m. in the Library. Snack and beverage provided. Feel free to bring a lunch.
Feast of Life Performance
As a Lenten gift to the community, BSM will be performing one of its most captivating musicals, Feast of Life: Stories from the Gospel of Luke, Thursday, March 24, at 7 p.m., at BSM.
Feast of Life (an original work written by Marty Haugen with Gary Daigle, student directed by Megan Collins and Shannon Cron, with music direction by Nancy Stockhaus and Jere Lantz) is a musical adaptation of the Gospel of Luke. No reservations are needed for this free performance, and the public is invited to attend. A portion of the free-will offering that will be taken will be donated to the charity Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos, an orphanage in Guatemala. BSM will also be performing this production at several area grade schools during the months of March and April. Read more.
Safety & Self Defense Classes
BSM's Parent Association is offering a Safety and Self Defense Class. Al Horner, a former Navy Seal, will facilitate the class. His mission is to inform and train people on how to avoid or escape life threatening assaults. See www.notmebook.com for more information. Because of the sensitivity of the subject matter, the class is open to students in grades 9-12 only. Any child participating must be accompanied by a parent/adult. It is suggested that the adult be of the same gender as the child. This event is also open to junior high parents. The class for girls is Thursday, April 14, and the class for boys is Monday, April 18. Both classes will go from 7-9 p.m. The cost is $20 per person. Get more information and register now online.
Parenting and Faith
The next Parenting and Faith topic is "When Bad Things Happen to Good People; Helping Our Kids Make Sense Out of Suffering." Campus Minister Mike Jeremiah and Guidance Counselor Amanda Anderson will share insights and tips to help teens with loss, serious issues and difficult experiences. How can we guide our children to the resources they need as well as encourage them to keep their faith?
The session will be held in the Moore Library on Wednesday, April 6, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. A light lunch will be served. Questions? Contact Cathy Kruse, Parent Association Spirituality Chair, at ckruse1@comcast.net.
Personal Safety Presentation for Seniors
With the end of high school looming and the start of college around the corner, the senior class will be attending a presentation on personal safety on Wednesday, April 6, from 9-10 a.m. Jan Jenkins, author of the book Footprints Courage (www.legacyofcourage.com), shares her personal story of the death of her college-age son and the lessons learned that can help other young people. Her message of “stick together-stay alive” will provide students with personal safety skills as they head out on their own. The presentation is one of the Community Wellness events sponsored by the BSM Parent Association. If you have any questions, please contact Deann Speltz at 952-938-0252 or Sheila Jones at 612-801-8214.
Depression Presentation for Juniors

Art Website
BSM has teamed up with Artsonia, the world's largest online student's art museum, to display student artwork. Anyone can view the school gallery online. Visitors can browse the artwork in the school gallery by grade level, or by specific exhibits. BSM students have joined thousands of students from over 100 countries whose artwork is showcased on Artsonia.
All of Artsonia's artwork is viewable online, and any teacher or parent can create an online art gallery for their child or school. Artsonia provides several online features such as fan clubs and personal guestbooks, as a way for families to encourage the creativity and imaginations of their young artists. In addition, family members can purchase keepsakes imprinted with the child's artwork, with Artsonia donating 15 percent of their annual product revenue back to school art programs.
Selected art projects are also viewable on the Art Projects page on the BSM website.

Senior Class Retreat Deadline Approaching
The spring Senior Class Retreat is the weekend of April 16 and 17 at YMCA Camp Iduhapi in Loretto. Buses will leave from BSM at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and return at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Letters and permission slips were mailed home on March 4, and the information can also be accessed on the “Retreat” page of the BSM website. The permission slips are due by 2:30 p.m. on March 25. Because of the individualized nature of this final retreat, we cannot accept any registrations after the March 25 deadline. We hope the seniors will take advantage of this final opportunity to gather together as a class. Shared Ministers from St. John’s and St. Ben’s will serve as group leaders as the seniors reflect on their years together here at BSM and the many good things that the future will hold for each of them. If you have any questions concerning the retreat, please contact Mike Jeremiah, Campus Minister, 952-915-4358, ext. 2453, or mjeremiah@BSMschool.org.

Summer Pre-College Programs for High School Students
Students who are currently in grades 9-11 are eligible to participate in summer learning experiences at various colleges and universities. These programs range from one week to seven weeks, with varying costs and curriculum. One of the many benefits of participating in a pre-college summer program is the opportunity to live on a college campus and take courses, and meet students from around the U.S. In the past few years, BSM students have participated in pre-college summer programs at several colleges, including University of Notre Dame, The George Washington University, Carleton College, Harvard University, and Washington University in St. Louis. Information and/or applications are available in the BSM College and Career Center or on the sponsoring college’s website. In addition, general information and Web links for numerous colleges offering summer opportunities can be found on the Summer Opportunities Web page in the Guidance/College and Career section of the BSM website.
