Day Five:Friday, October 28, 2011 – Heavenly & Earthly Jerusalem

Ethiopian Absorption Center, The Mevasseret Zion absorption center is located in the Jerusalemhills in the town of Mevasseret Zion. In May 1999, the center was designated specifically for Ethiopian olim (immigrants).
Drive to HadasaHospitalto view the extraordinary Chagall Windows, continue to visit the hustling and bustling Machane Yehuda, Jerusalem’s outdoor market, to sample some of the best food in town for lunch on your own. Breathe in the smells of the fresh baked challahs and rugelach and watch everyone shop as they prepare for Shabbat. The rest of the afternoon will be at leisure. As Shabbat begins, you may choose to return to the Western Wall and watch everyone in their Shabbat finest as the Yeshiva students dance their way to the Kotel.
Return to the hotel for free time to freshen up and prepare for Shabbat.
Shabbat dinnerat the hotel with lone soldiers (who have immigrated to Israelwithout their families) and with students who are spending a year studying and volunteering in Israelwith the NATIV program.

Tower of David Museum – Night Spectacular, the walls of the Citadel serve as a stage for a night time show which is a celebration of sight and sound.
After seeing what’s on the surface it’s time to dig deeper and descend through the many layers of Jerusalem’s past all the way back to the time of the Temple through the Western Wall Tunnels. Inside, a most interesting model shows the different dwelling periods and history of the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Stand on the site believed to be the nearest spot to the "Holy of Holies".

Day Seven: Sunday, October 30, 2011 – The Pioneering Spirit of the Negev

Depart for the south.
Visit the Ben Gurion University, a major center for teaching and research, with campuses in Beer-Sheva, Eilat and Sde Boker. The university plays a key role in promoting industry, agriculture and education in the Negevby anticipating exciting challenges in innovative fields of research. Visit air force base Museum at Hatzerim in the center of the country for a tour of the base and dialogue with soldiers Briefing by airforce pilot.
At Sde Boker is the grave of David Ben Gurion. While overlooking the wilderness of Nachal Zin we can remember Ben Gurion's comment that “Israelhas created a new image of the Jew in the world – the image of a working and an intellectual people, of a people that can fight with heroism”
Merage Foundation- The Ayalim Association was founded in 2002 by a group of young army veterans to promote the establishment of student villages and entrepreneurship in the Negev and the Galilee, as groundwork for permanent settlement and social activism. Ayalim seeks to channel young peoples' motivation and energy towards social action projects and Zionist achievements.

Day Eight:Monday, October 31, 2011- The complexity called Jerusalem
Breakfast at the hotel.
Seam line Tour- geographical seam line and the still-relevant cultural seam line between east and west Jerusalem. The reunification of Jerusalemin 1967 prompted the government to create a “security belt” of civilian neighborhoods. Have a “hilltop tour” of Jerusalemand view some of these neighborhoods, Gilo, Armon Hanatziv and Har Homa which overlook Arab neighborhoods, where Jews and Arabs reside side by side on the city’s seam line. We will have a multi-dimensional overview of current issues concerning Jerusalemtoday.

Free time for last minute shopping, strolling through the streets of Jerusalemor just relaxing.

Day Nine:Tuesday, November 1, 2011 – Along the Jordan Rift Valley

Depart Jerusalem.
Drive via the Jordan Rift Valley passing Jerichothe world's oldest city.
To your right lays the Kingdomof Jordan. What are the differences you can see between both sides of the JordanValley?
Enter the "Valleyof Springs" rich with natural springs which help agriculture prosper year round.
Arrive Gan Hashlosha, (Sachne) where you will have an opportunity to enjoy in the water springs located at the Foots of the GilboaMountain, the famous mountain on which King Saul was killed in the battle against the philistines.

Drive to Kibbutz Gesher, The Naharayim Experience
The Naharayim power plant was built on the eastern side of the Jordan Riverand began functioning in 1932. It was, however, destroyed at the outset of Israel's Independence War, on May 14, 1948 and ceased to function. In order to demonstrate how this power plant once produced electricity, a special model was created with the cooperation of Kibbutz Gesher and the Israel Electric Company. The light and sound show presentation gives the visitor the feeling of an authentic reproduction of the power plant that once was. The visitor's walkway takes one through a system of dams and bridges complete with a water tower and a turbine room, all the while hearing the sound of running water accompanied with flashes of light and color.
Drive through Tiberius located on the Sea of Galilee.
Head north to the Upper Galilee.

Walk through Tel Dan nature reserve, one of the most important archeological sites, where the Israelite tribe of Dan settled after.

Day Eleven:Thursday, November 3, 2011 – Spirituality; Then and Now

drive to the city of Safed, one of the Four Holy Cities to Judaism, the city of Kabala. Stroll through the old streets and visit the galleries of some of the most notable Israeli artists. Tour the old synagogues where Jewish mysticism is still part of daily life.

Drive to Mt.Meron was, until Israelconquered the Golan Heights in the 1967 war, the highest mountain in Israel. There are several sites on Mt.Meronthat visitors come to see. The graves of famous rabbis, Meron is famous, however, as the gravesite of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.
Rabbi Shimon was a Midrashic (Jewish commentary) rabbi of the third century C.E. He is frequently quoted in the Talmud (commentaries of Jewish Law) as a revered expert who was highly regarded by the scholars of the day.
Drive to the ancient city of Caesarea,built by Herod the Great and once the seat of Roman rule. View the excavated RomanTheater, with its acoustic and theatrical sound, which was used for many performances throughout the centuries.

For the Eilat Extension: depart to SdeDovAirportfor your domestic flight to Eilat.
Depart on domestic flight to Eilat.
Upon arrive in Eilat transfer to your hotel and check in.

Day Twelve:Friday, November 4, 2011 – Day tour to Petra
Breakfast at the hotel.
Pick up from the hotel and depart to the Arava border.
Cross over into Jordan. Assistance will be provided to cross the border in a timely manner.
Drive through Wadi Rum where Lawrence of Arabia was based during the Arab revolt, and where the famous movie was filmed.
Continue to the Lost City of Petra.
Enter Petraand walk through the SiqCanyon. Pass by the ‘Silica Quarries’, The Jinn Blocks and the first large site the ‘Obelisk Tomb’ and discover the secrets of the ancient city.
Lunch at a local restaurant in Wadi Mussa. (Included)
Depart Petraand head back to the border crossing point.
Scenic drive through the city of Aqabawith a brief stop at the colorful Arabian market.
Return to the Arava border and cross back into Israel.

Merage Foundation- The Ayalim Association was founded in 2002 by a group of young army veterans to promote the establishment of student villages and entrepreneurship in the Negev and the Galilee, as groundwork for permanent settlement and social activism. Ayalim seeks to channel young peoples' motivation and energy towards social action projects and Zionist achievements.

Seam line Tour- geographical seam line and the still-relevant cultural seam line between east and west Jerusalem. The reunification of Jerusalemin 1967 prompted the government to create a “security belt” of civilian neighborhoods. Have a “hilltop tour” of Jerusalemand view some of these neighborhoods, Gilo, Armon Hanatziv and Har Homa which overlook Arab neighborhoods, where Jews and Arabs reside side by side on the city’s seam line. We will have a multi-dimensional overview of current issues concerning Jerusalemtoday.

Drive to Kibbutz Gesher, The Naharayim Experience
The Naharayim power plant was built on the eastern side of the Jordan Riverand began functioning in 1932. It was, however, destroyed at the outset of Israel's Independence War, on May 14, 1948 and ceased to function. In order to demonstrate how this power plant once produced electricity, a special model was created with the cooperation of Kibbutz Gesher and the Israel Electric Company. The light and sound show presentation gives the visitor the feeling of an authentic reproduction of the power plant that once was. The visitor's walkway takes one through a system of dams and bridges complete with a water tower and a turbine room, all the while hearing the sound of running water accompanied with flashes of light and color.
Drive through Tiberius located on the Sea of Galilee.

Day Eleven:Thursday, November 3, 2011 – Spirituality; Then and Now
Breakfast at the Hotel and Check out.
drive to the city of Safed, one of the Four Holy Cities to Judaism, the city of Kabala. Stroll through the old streets and visit the galleries of some of the most notable Israeli artists. Tour the old synagogues where Jewish mysticism is still part of daily life.

Drive to Mt.Meron was, until Israelconquered the Golan Heights in the 1967 war, the highest mountain in Israel. There are several sites on Mt.Meronthat visitors come to see. The graves of famous rabbis, Meron is famous, however, as the gravesite of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.
Rabbi Shimon was a Midrashic (Jewish commentary) rabbi of the third century C.E. He is frequently quoted in the Talmud (commentaries of Jewish Law) as a revered expert who was highly regarded by the scholars of the day.
Drive to the ancient city of Caesarea,built by Herod the Great and once the seat of Roman rule. View the excavated RomanTheater, with its acoustic and theatrical sound, which was used for many performances throughout the centuries.
Dinner en route at local restaurant. – transfer to Ben-Gurion airport for departure

Depart on domestic flight to Eilat.
Upon arrive in Eilat transfer to your hotel and check in.

Day Twelve:Friday, November 4, 2011 – Day tour to Petra
Breakfast at the hotel.
Pick up from the hotel and depart to the Arava border.
Cross over into Jordan. Assistance will be provided to cross the border in a timely manner.
Drive through Wadi Rum where Lawrence of Arabia was based during the Arab revolt, and where the famous movie was filmed.
Continue to the Lost City of Petra.
Enter Petraand walk through the SiqCanyon. Pass by the ‘Silica Quarries’, The Jinn Blocks and the first large site the ‘Obelisk Tomb’ and discover the secrets of the ancient city.
Lunch at a local restaurant in Wadi Mussa. (Included)
Depart Petraand head back to the border crossing point.
Scenic drive through the city of Aqabawith a brief stop at the colorful Arabian market.
Return to the Arava border and cross back into Israel.
Transfer to your hotel.

Day Thirteen:Saturday, November 5, 2011 – Free day in Eilat

Check out of the hotel and depart to the Eilat domestic airport.
